Drallim is a specialist equipment manufacturer founded by Angus Millard in 1958 to make the Rotary Selector Valve (RSV) In the 1960’s we added military cargo hooks, lashings and restraints to the product range. Acquisitions and organic development since, means our products & services span the Aerospace, Industrial and Utilities markets.
Despite being a small business, over the past 20 years we have regularly received industry awards; highlighting the drive within the company. This has been inspired by the “Millard Trust Ethos” and its unique employee ownership model. We are committed to delivering excellence in British Engineering and to champion manufacturing in the United Kingdom.
On 9th February 2019 our factory in St Leonards on Sea set alight and by Sunday morning it was a complete loss!
What a problem we had to solve; how to get back on our feet and into production and keep all our customers happy. Teams and leaders were set to work and we met every Monday, working wherever we could, supported by local businesses. We then rapidly set about transforming a rental unit with our own hands, turning it into a fully functioning temporary facility, re-equipped to the highest standards. In true Drallim spirit we were back in production by early April!
We drove our rebuild project hard and delivered a quality ECO building design. As work progressed the COVID-19 lockdown hit but in support of critical infrastructure businesses we could not all “work from home”. We closed for just 4 days to adapt and carry-on production. Building work also continued and in October 2020 we opened our new factory.
So, we have literally risen from the ashes, rebuilding every aspect of ourselves from the buildings, equipment and designs through to our high integrity business processes and approvals. It has been the stalwart performance of our dedicated staff that has carried us through, remaining in profit with a modest sales growth and happy customers.
We are an agile business able to change course quite rapidly to meet a fluxing global market, so it is important that our employees are highly motivated. To celebrate their achievements we regularly enter and win business awards for numerous aspects of the business.
