Many of our products have been developed following customer requests, and the MC2-QEC was no exception. The device was born from the standard MC2, already used for many years by The Royal Navy to secure their EH101 Merlins to the decks of Naval craft; the HMS Queen Elizabeth class carrier however has a cruciform-link plate, which required us to design a revised hook end to that of the standard version of the MC2. The MC2-QEC is now being used to safely stow their fleet of Merlin and Chinook Helicopters.
- The polyester webbing tie-down has a fast single action, over centre mechanism that gives tension and locking in one movement.
- Quick release is also achieved in one easy action. The MC2-QEC Storm Lashing has a unique clutch that means that slack can be taken up without reloading the mechanism.
- The webbing is treated to resist abrasion and the effects of sunlight. The mechanical components are of replaceable corrosion resistant steel selected to give maximum durability.
- The unit incorporates a web tidy to ensure compact and safe stowage of excess webbing and its unique mechanism is a patented design. Recent modifications have removed any potential FOD hazards.
- The design is such that it functions at temperatures between -26°C and +40°C and can be operated easily by personnel wearing heavy gloves.
